Even though we are in the middle of the craziness of May, now is a great time to pause for a few minutes to consider what your summer reading might be. After surveying the FPCO pastoral staff for their reading recommendations, The Collaborative has been able to compile an interesting list of books.
This is a great time of year to select a couple of books to read during the longer days of summer. They may not all be “page turners” in the typical sense, but all are worth turning the page to glean and enjoy the authors’ insight, wisdom, and talent. Nora Ephron, the screenwriter of popular romantic comedies When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle, put it this way in her book I Feel Bad About My Neck:
“Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it’s a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it’s a way of making contact with someone else’s imagination after a day that’s all too real.”
