Hospitality is a foundational aspect of our Christian citizenship because it goes before us in reputation, it guides our embodiment of the Holy Spirit, and it influences how others encounter Christ.
The Reverend Rufus Smith, Senior Pastor of Hope Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tennessee (the largest Presbyterian church in the United States) joins the conversation by lending voice to what he has witnessed among his own congregation. Rev Smith embodies hospitality which is evident from the eight-year transition of a predominantly Caucasian church to a multi-ethnic church in the deep south with 30% of its members being people of color.
